.I Shoot Families.

Yup, I do - with my camera! {grin}
I am not a professional photographer. Not by any means. I have not been trained, have not taken any classes, and I don't pretend to know much about the professional side of photography. I have read about photography, and I have studied some books on photography, and I have poured over photos by photographers.

I've always loved capturing moments in my camera, but when my daughter was born and after a very emotional and scary birth, I needed to capture the moments. I was given a taste of just how fleeting life is, and I did not want to miss it. So I began documenting and freezing moment after moment on my camera. One photo turned into two turned into one hundred turned into what is today gigs and gigs of photos stored in files on our computer. A few are framed, a lot were blogged, some scrap booked.

I love being behind the camera. I am thrilled to have so many "ordinary" moments from my childrens' childhood captured to cherish when I am old and gray. And although I am not a professional, I shoot from a mommy's heart, and it gives me great joy to bless other families with a few frozen moments of their own. They may not be technically "right", but they are full of heart - always. Here are some favorites from my most recent family shoot.

So what does it look like for a stay-at-home, homeschooling Mommy of two little Darlings to take and edit photos for other families? A little like this:
load dish washer
edit photo
load washer
edit photo
teach school
edit photo
unload dishwasher
edit photo
fold laundry
edit photo
read books and cuddle kiddos
edit photo
etc., lol. This shoot was taken three weeks ago, and I am just now finishing up the editing. Because I am not a professional and do not run a business, it is a slow process. My family must come first, but I do get so much joy in the editing of the photos - it is a creative artistic process for me - one I love. And at that, it's time to get back to work . . . . right after I prep for dinner! {grin}

Amazing pictures! I would never have known those weren't taken by a paid professional. You are very talented and what a fun hobby to have.

I liked your list of how it all got done, very cute and relatable!

That sounds like my day. Though I'm editing my own photos. One at a time, very slowly :) I would love to take photos for other families!

You did such a beautiful job!

Beautiful! It's fun to see how different photographers each have their own artistic style...yours is delightful. Do you have your own photography site? I noticed on the left side bar it says "my photography site" but didn't find a link. I'd love to see more of your 'work'. (Doesn't feel like work does it? I love it!)

I always love your photos, especially your editing, your colors and effects come out so nicely. I recently got a Nikon D60 and am trying to learn more about photography, but I haven't started dabbling in editing yet. What program do you use?
