But today I dusted off my sewing machine, pulled up this tutorial that my friend Theresa shared with me and pretended to be just that - a seamstress.
My end result looks nothing like the tutorial. Ha! I didn't really have enough fabric, so I had to make do. What made the dress so sweet and charming in the tutorial was the pleats showing at the bodice, but mine were not as pretty and perfect, so I covered them up with my bow- which was not as wide as it should have been - again not enough fabric. I added a few embellishments - the ribbon and fabric flower. It's not perfect, but Cadi loves it. It is suitable for a play dress, although Cadi is talking already of wearing it to church on Sunday. Errr. {blush}
Cadi claims it is a perfect twirly dress.

Awwwww Tiff, you did such a GREAT job!! Wow, for not being experienced at sewing you sure can't tell by the dress. She looks like a little doll in it : ). Adorable post.
Lots of love to you!
Laura

AH! I LOVE IT! It is a darling dress and I'm sure Cadi feels like a princess in it! I can't wait to see it "live!"
Ooh I am inspired and must try for the girls!
That looks great! I want to try that tutorial.
It's ADORABLE! And it IS a perfect twirly dress! I can't believe you "don't" sew and just whipped that out! I'm so impressed! I'd buy it if I had a daughter to put in it!
That dress looks perfect! So very cute!
Really nice...like the "coat of many colors" in the Bible.
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become a follower as well.
Love it! Let her wear it proudly! Her mamma made it! :) Way to be!
You are a much better {not} seamstress that I could ever be :-P. I LOVE the dress!!!!!!! ~ Pam
