.I've Been Bitten.

By the sewing bug!

I made Cadi another dress today.

I like the flower in the back, but Cadi likes it in the front. She wins. She is the one wearing it. {grin}

This dress was made from Jim's old dress shirt. The lace was off of old sheets of ours. (The sheets I used to paint our yard sale adoption sign here.)

Re-purposing is really fun, and sewing is not sooo bad. {wink}

(This idea came from the tutorial here. I am loving this site!)

.I'm {not} a Seamstress.

But today I dusted off my sewing machine, pulled up this tutorial that my friend Theresa shared with me and pretended to be just that - a seamstress.

My end result looks nothing like the tutorial. Ha! I didn't really have enough fabric, so I had to make do. What made the dress so sweet and charming in the tutorial was the pleats showing at the bodice, but mine were not as pretty and perfect, so I covered them up with my bow- which was not as wide as it should have been - again not enough fabric. I added a few embellishments - the ribbon and fabric flower. It's not perfect, but Cadi loves it. It is suitable for a play dress, although Cadi is talking already of wearing it to church on Sunday. Errr. {blush}

.Fancy Camera Strap.

My friend, T, came over this morning, and we prettied our babies...ahem....I mean cameras with fancy camera straps. T has mad sewing skills, and hers came out looking so professional - straight edges and lines. While I am a rule-follower normally - just ask my poor hubby! - when it comes to sewing, rules just fly out the window for me! My strap is pretty, and I love it. But let's just say I couldn't sell it! Ha!

This was a pretty easy sewing project. Which is a good thing for me. We used this pattern. (Well, I ended up doing my own thing when all was said and done, but the idea was from there.)

I am thankful for the unexpected friendship we have formed and sharing our love of photography, mommying, and creating.

Thanks Theresa for a fun morning (and you should post a photo of your strap for everyone to see!).
