.Chugga, Chugga, Choo-Choo.

I feel like the crazy train is whisking me away!! But the dreadful virus is finally leaving my body, so praise God! Last night was the first night in almost two weeks that I slept with very minimal coughing. Yesterday, I ran another fever, but I think I overdid it a bit with Scotty's party. Today, I feel almost back to normal - no coughing, no achy muscles, no scratchy throat, no head ache, and no fever! I am still searching for the rest of my energy, but that may have left on the crazy train as well.

So yesterday we had Scotty's birthday party. It was originally planned for last Monday, but I could barely even function for the majority of last week. So we rescheduled it. My children are very, very blessed to have still living all of their grandparents and great grandparents on both sides! This is special to us, and we know unique, so we invited all (but one set who live in Florida) to join us for Scotty's Elmo-themed party. I served spaghetti with homemade sauce (from the tomatoes I canned a few weeks ago!). And of course I made an Elmo cake. (I will not even go into how much I detest decorating cakes. That is a whole post for a whole 'nother day!)

Notice Scotty's face - this is what he did every time he opened a new gift! I love that boy!

Now things are just piled up for this week. Please pray for me if you think of it. We have a home study meeting in Albany tonight, and our last meeting is on Saturday. We finish up our small group leader training as well. We have meetings the next two Wednesdays and this Sunday. They have been a learning experience for Jim and I as well. We are praying and growing over some things right now.

I am also helping Jim run and organize the Beth Moore simulcast that will be taking place at our church in September. It is a pretty big undertaking. We just received the materials for the conference this week, and in looking everything over we should have been organizing and planning all summer. But I know God is faithful, and although I do not like stressful situations like this, I have also seen numerous times God pull things together for us. I am praying and believing He will do that again.

In the midst of all this Cadi starts kindergarten at home with me August 30th. We have been gearing up and planning for the BIG day. I have done so much prep work, but there are still a few things I would really like to get done before we officially kick off our school year and the fall. I am working on chore packs for the children, and that still needs much work. And of course we continue to plug along with our adoption. As I said above, we finish our home study meetings this week. We have a few other things we need to work on for our dossier, too. Jim went over our finances with a fine-tooth comb the other night, and we are even closer to our next goal than we had thought!! Praise God! It looks as if we are only lacking about $1500!

Jim preaches again this Sunday. I enjoy listening to him preach, and being his sounding board as he prepares.

Then Jim turns 30 on Monday, and we begin another crazy week.

My strength comes from the Lord....

Dwelling on that this week in the midst of crazy.

And Friends, honestly, I have never been more content and thrilled with life before. It has been a hard, hard summer because it has been so packed. It was not what I thought it would be. We have been in so much transition, but through it all my Jesus has been the same - faithful! When everyone around me fails to live up to my expectations and therefore leaves me disappointed- He is here. He is my source.

So as the crazy train whisks me down its tracks, I cling to my Savior. And turning my head out the window looking back I can honestly say....

It's been good. Really, really good.

I just ADORE Scotty's face in that picture of him opening the present! So, so cute.
Let me know when you know what sort of help you need with the simulcast! :)

Glad you're feeling better. And that your finances for the adoption are going better than expected! That is awesome!! My husband and I talk about y'all a lot and the stage you are at in the adoption process. We are feeling a little crazy around here too...it's hard to get everything done for an adoption and get ready for school at the same time! Have a great week!

Your Elmo cake looks fabulous! Best of luck for your adoption process. We have been thinking about adoption also - it will depend on whether God blesses us with one or two of our own, or not (I'm getting a bit passed my use-by date :-))
